THE SUZI BASS AWARDS, INC. 

Seeks a Part-Time Administrative Director 

 

Reports to: Board of Directors, through the Interim Board Chair 

 

Location: Atlanta, GA; primarily work from home with some onsite projects and fundraising 

 

Status: Part-Time Contractor 

 

Compensation: $1,000 per month, 6-month initial appointment; expected monthly workload between 5 and 10 hours a week 

 

Position Overview 

The Suzi Awards (the Suzi’s) seeks a dynamic, mission-driven Administrative Director (AD) to manage the organization during a transitional period. The AD will work closely with the Interim Board Chair to ensure operational continuity, support fundraising efforts and plan signature events that celebrate excellence in Atlanta’s professional theatre community. 

The AD will be responsible for managing the finances and fundraising research while supervising volunteers and contractors executing the Suzi’s annual award event. Board and volunteer committees will remain responsible for attracting and training volunteers; managing judging; determining eligibility; and voting on annual awardees. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Organizational Management 

– Oversee daily administrative functions of the organization

– Maintain and manage accounts, data and files 

– Work with outside volunteers or contractors to maintain the website, social media and Suzi Salons 

– Draft marketing and PR messaging and promote the organization and its programs 

– Support board led efforts to grow the organization’s board and volunteer base 

– Support board to survey Suzi member theatres and identified stakeholders 

 

Budget & Financial Oversight 

– Create and manage the annual organization budget 

– Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial best practices and reporting requirements 

– Monitor financial performance, in collaboration with the Treasurer 

 

Fundraising and Revenue Management 

– Research and report on grant opportunities, including from private foundations and local, state and/or federal agencies that support the mission of the Suzi Awards 

– Create bi-annual fundraising opportunities for the Suzi Awards with the board

– Support donor stewardship and cultivate new funding relationships with individuals and through organizational partnerships. 

– Develop sustainable earned revenue programs with the board

 

Event Planning 

-Coordinating logistics for annual Suzi Awards nomination and awards events which may include: 

– Coordinating and supervising event contractors and volunteers 

– Working with event board member committees 

– Negotiating with and securing event sponsors, venues, entertainment and refreshments 

– Developing event timelines to manage run-of-show, load-in and tech 

 

Qualifications 

– Demonstrated experience in nonprofit management, arts administration, or event coordination 

– Proven success in fundraising 

– Strong administrative, communication and organizational skills 

– Track record of reliable and timely communication with stakeholders

– Budget creation and financial management experience 

– Familiarity with theatre, the Atlanta arts community or awards programming is a plus 

– Self-motivated and able to work independently
